From Terry Martin, your Guide to Smoking Cessation

Today's highlight comes from a forum member who was one of my quit buddies way back when.  His quit story is a great read with plenty of practical advice.

Have a great week, all.  Make it count!

How I Finally Quit Smoking
From Joe: "I've been a smoker for 35+ years, starting in my mid-teens, probably like most of us did. So I didn't know what it was like to be an adult non-smoker. I have been trying to quit for 15 years, with little success."

What Freedom from Smoking Means
By the time most of us find our way to a successful quit program, we've spent years dragging the ball and chain of nicotine addiction around behind us. Once we quit smoking, the word freedom takes on a depth of meaning it never had before.

Do I Have COPD?
A reader asks: I'm concerned. I quit smoking 3 months ago and I still have trouble breathing. I get winded easily - walking up a flight of stairs leaves me breathless. I thought my breathing was going to improve when I quit smoking, but it doesn't seem to be going that way! Do I have COPD?

Smoking and Vitamin Depletion
Smoking creates an abundance of free radicals in the body, unstable molecules that are associated with cell and DNA damage. Antioxidants such as Vitamin C and E help offset that damage, but smoking depletes these helpers, a double whammy for smokers.
