As a proud quadragenarian, I was not too psyched about the idea that my yoga practice should change just because I entered my 40s. But as time has continued to march on, I find that my priorities are changing. Let's take a look at how to cultivate a practice for the long haul.

Warning: Generalizations ahead! Obviously, my advice is not going to resonate with every person who happens to be over 40. But for many of us, bodies do change and so do our goals.

Pose of The Week: Head-to-Knee Pose - Janu Sirsasana
Focusing on forward bending over each leg individually, as in janu sirsasana, allows for a deeper stretch than when bending over both legs at the same time. Try to keep your extended leg active by flexing that foot the whole time.
