From Cory Silverberg, your Guide to Sexuality

Have you ever started a conversation about circumcision with a parent or parent to be?  Have you ever started a conversation about circumcision with someone who is circumcised and feels like it was harmful?  Really, have you ever had a conversation about circumcision with anyone?  If so, you know it's a hot topic, and it's one that the authors of a paper in the Mayo Clinic Proceedings just made hotter by comparing it to that other hot button issue of child intervention,  vaccinations.  Click the links below at your own risk.  ~  Cory

If You Thought Circumcision Was Contentious Before…
A recent review of research and data on circumcision prevalence points out that while overall the rate of circumcision has gone up over the past 40 years, more recently the rate is down.  They argue this is a problem since, according to their analysis, the benefits of circumcision outweigh the risks by 100 to 1.

Did Circumcision Ruin My Sex Life?
I'm a 37-year-old man who is recently divorced and just getting back into the swing of things with the dating scene. I'm also starting to have sex again for the first time in a long time, since my wife and I stopped having sex more than two years before we separated, and I never cheated. Recently on a date a woman asked me if I was circumcised (I am). She went on about how circumcised men are missing out, because they lack sensation. Is this true? Is there research on this subject?

Sexual Pleasure and Female Circumcision

Circumcision is never just a medical procedure, it exists as a social and cultural practice, and whatever you think of it I hope you agree that people of any gender who have been circumcised deserve access to sexual information that speaks to them and to opportunities for sexual expression and pleasure.
