From Ann Pizer, your Guide to Yoga

I'm usually pretty frank about saying that yoga is not a quick fix. While I firmly believe that yoga practices can improve your health and well-being, it's rarely a case of "do this one pose and you'll be cured." But occasionally situations arise when you only have time to do one little thing and yoga can actually step up for those times too. Here's three methods that deliver a lot of yoga's healing power in just a few minutes.

Downward Facing Dog - Adho Mukha Svanasana

It's not surprising that this work horse of a pose tops the list, is it? If you only have time to do one pose, choose downward facing dog. It's a great stretch for the whole body. Do it at work, before bed, when you wake up in the morning, at the airport, while visiting family. You are guaranteed to feel better afterwards.

Equal Breathing - Sama Vritti Pranayama

Let's say you need to calm down. Maybe it's anxiety over deadlines, money, travel, or family. Whatever it may be, this breathing exercise is a great way to quickly get control of your body's reaction to stress. Just a few minutes is enough to hit the reset button.

Meditation Break

When you think of meditation, you may thing that you're looking at an hour of sitting cross-legged. But five minutes of focused attention (in any comfortable position) is a good place to start. Even that much can be surprisingly difficult but also very transformative. Hey, I said it would be quick, but that doesn't always mean easy.
