Lesson 5 - Quit Smoking Aids
Terry Martin
From Terry Martin, your Guide to Smoking Cessation

Should you quit using a NRT(nicotine replacement therapy), or go cold turkey? The choice is a personal one, and before you make it, please read up on the various products that are available to help smokers quit today.

Cold turkey means quitting without a NRT of any sort. Physical withdrawal symptoms tend to be very strong initially, but are overwith more quickly than if you use a NRT. Some people quit this way very successfully, but it's not for everyone.

NRT's provide a gradual stepping down of the nicotine in your system, so the physical withdrawal symptoms are not as severe. I used the nicotine patch to help me quit, and it worked beautifully. I will say however, that regardless of what method you choose, the key ingredient for success is your will and determination to quit, not the quit aid you use. Quit aids are just that - aids. If you're determined, they can be a big help, but if your heart isn't in your quit, no aid on the market will be able to help you.

That said, let's take a look at the different quit smoking aids available on the market today.
