Sexual Consent, Take Two

Last Wednesday you should have received my regular newsletter and you might have noticed the top three articles were all about consent.  You may also have noticed there was no introduction to the newsletter.  That’s because, ironically, the technology that runs About.com sent it out to you, without my consent!  Elon Musk is not crazy (well maybe he is, but not about the dangers of technology taking over).

I was worried that maybe sending some of the same articles out today might feel repetitive, but then I decided to go ahead, since no one pays for this anyway (and therefore I hope no one will complain that I’m reusing old material) and anyway, part of being good at navigating sexual consent is practice.  And practice requires repetition.

So this week you’ll get two newsletters, starting with this one, sexual consent, take two!  ~  Cory

Permission to Kiss?
This lady came to my school to talk about 'sexual consent' and said it’s not okay to do anything with a girl without asking permission first.  I just don’t see it.  Asking permission every step of the way, it would ruin the mood and I’d be embarrassed anyway.  Does anyone do this, or is it just something adults get paid to tell us to do?
