First, their teachers probably aren’t preparing appropriate sex education lessons as part of their curriculum. Second, the best way to both reduce risk and increase the chances of happiness and health is to talk about sexuality, not ignore it. Parents can't do it all, but sex education really should start at home. If you’ve got a kid that you are involved in parenting, you're more than half way there. This week it's back to school for people with kids. Like it or not, the world we live in now includes easy access to sexually explicit content, which means talking about porn is a form of street proofing everyone with kids should think about. | | | | | How to Talk with Kids About Masturbation | Most kids will have figured out how to touch themselves in ways that feel good long before you're ever going to talk to them about masturbation. It's the most commonly practiced sexual act in the world, and while you don't need to belabor it, there should be at least a brief conversation about it.
