Goodbye Cigarettes - You Don't Control Me Anymore
From Stefanie:  "I had unsuccessfully tried many other times to break the chains. Without you, I was mean, depressed, my throat hurt, and cravings were unbearable. Just one, I said, just one more. Even though that one made me dizzy, sick to my stomach, I still turned to you."

What to Do if You Smoked a Cigarette
From a Reader:  "I don't know what happened... I quit smoking 4 months ago and have done well, overall. Lately though, I've been missing cigarettes a little. I think about how nice it would be to light up and how much smoking used to relax me..."

How it Feels to Not Smoke for 3 Months
From Jen: "On Jan. 11, today was highly unlikely, because the day after I quit, in that first 24 hours, hanging on by the skin of my teeth — which still tasted of nicotine, every second was so hard won."

When we decide to quit, untangling the associations we've built up over a lifetime of smoking takes conscious effort.
